There are no parks or communities on the lake. Birchbark Lake is partially within Torch River No. 488 (Rural Municipality) and partially within Paddockwood No. 520 (Rural Municipality).
Candle Lake Provincial Park is 39km SSE and Waskateena Beach Recreation Site is 24km SSE of Birchbark Lake.
The lake was officially named on 1956-11-02.
