Granite Lake Recreation Site is 16km NW, Jan Lake Recreation Site is 12km NE and Leaf Rapids Recreation Site is 14km NNW of Cooper Lake.
Cooper Lake was named after William Robert Cooper on 1965-12-09 as part of the GeoMemorial Commemorative Naming Program ran by the Sask Government.
