Limestone Lake Recreation Site is 19km ENE, Hanson Lake Recreation Site is 5.9km NNW, Jan Lake Recreation Site is 19km SSW, Leaf Rapids Recreation Site is 21km SW and Deschambault Lake (South East Arm) Recreation Site is 22km E of Geol Lake.
The lake was officially named on 1966-03-10. Geol Lake was previously known as:
