Prairie National Wildlife Area is adjacent the lake. Goose Lake is within Harris No. 316 (Rural Municipality).
Crystal Beach Game Preserve is 15km ENE, Outlook Game Preserve is 30km NW and Crystal Beach Regional Park is 17km ENE of Goose Lake.
The lake was officially named on 1956-11-02.
