Scheelhaase Island Wildlife Refuge is 21km N, Limestone Lake Recreation Site is 26km SE and Hanson Lake Recreation Site is 15km S of Miskat Lake.
The lake was officially named on 1949-10-06. The name Miskat Lake is of Cree origin.
