The lake is in the southern fishing zone. Burbot, Northern Pike, Walleye, White Sucker and Yellow Perch can be found in Mistawasis Lake.
There are no parks or communities on the lake. Mistawasis Lake is partially within Lake Pitihkwakew 102B (Reserve) and within Meeting Lake No. 466 (Rural Municipality).
Big Shell Lake Recreation Site is 14km SSW, Emerald Lake Regional Park is 21km WSW, Memorial Lake Regional Park is 26km SSW, Martins Lake Regional Park is 19km WNW and Big Shell Recreation Site is 16km SSW of Mistawasis Lake.
