The lake is in the central fishing zone. Burbot, Cisco, Goldeye, Lake Whitefish, Longnose Sucker, Northern Pike, Rainbow Trout, Walleye, White Sucker and Yellow Perch can be found in Namew Lake.
There are no parks or communities on the lake. Namew Lake is partially within Sturgeon Weir 184F (Reserve).
Cumberland House Provincial Park is 35km NE of Namew Lake.
The lake was officially named on 1949-10-06. The name Namew Lake is of Cree origin.
