There are no parks or communities on the lake. Potts Lake is within Hoodoo No. 401 (Rural Municipality).
Basin and Middle Lakes Bird Sanctuary is 24km SW, Wakaw Lake Regional Park is 20km SSE and Lucien Lake Regional Park is 16km W of Potts Lake.
The lake was officially named on 1991-02-01.
