There are no parks or communities on the lake. Salt Lake is partially within Invermay No. 305 (Rural Municipality) and partially within Insinger No. 275 (Rural Municipality).
Janusson Wildlife Refuge is 21km E and Fishing Lake Regional Park (KC Beach) is 25km SE of Salt Lake.
The lake was officially named on 1962-11-27.
