St. Benedict (Village) is adjacent the lake. Sayer Lake is partially within Three Lakes No. 400 (Rural Municipality).
Basin and Middle Lakes Bird Sanctuary is 11km SW, Wakaw Lake Regional Park is 19km SE, Lenore Lake Bird Sanctuary is 28km W, Tway National Wildlife Area is 23km S and Lucien Lake Regional Park is 9km NNW of Sayer Lake.
The lake was officially named on 1956-11-02.
