The lake is in the central fishing zone. Burbot, Cisco, Lake Whitefish, Longnose Sucker, Northern Pike, Sauger, Walleye, White Sucker and Yellow Perch can be found in Uskik Lake.

The lake was officially named on 1956-09-06. The name Uskik Lake is of Cree origin.
