Prince Albert National Park is adjacent the lake.
Elaine Lake Recreation Site is 12km S and Elaine Lake Road Corridor Game Preserve is 14km S of Wabeno Lake.
The lake was officially named on 1932-01-05. The name Wabeno Lake is of Cree origin.
