The lake is in the central fishing zone. Burbot, Cisco, Goldeye, Lake Whitefish, Northern Pike and Walleye can be found in Windy Lake.
There are no parks or communities on the lake.
Scheelhaase Island Wildlife Refuge is 15km E of Windy Lake.
The lake was officially named on 1933-04-18.
